Tide charts contain two low tides and two high tides a day and the best time to get there is two hours before the low tide so you can see as many tide pools as you can. There is direct access to a parking lot off Palos Verdes Drive South. In fact, two of the best tide pools in California are just a short distance from San Francisco. The park contains a State Ecological Preserve and taking of protected animals and marine life is prohibited. Abalone Cove Park features 2 beaches (Abalone Cove and Sacred Cove), tidepools, bluff top viewing areas and trails crisscrossing the area.
